CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

Cheri Golia, M.S., joined the Root Family as our new Chief Human Resources Officer in October 2022. Cheri brings two decades in leadership positions, specializing in not of profit organizations, most recently, as part of the Executive Leadership Team with Wellmore Behavioral Health in Waterbury, as a member of executive leadership teams. She has extensive experience with leading strategy and execution in the areas of; leadership development, coaching and training; HR compliance and risk, diversity and inclusion, employee engagement, and federal and state labor law compliance. Ms. Golia has successfully designed and implemented compensation and benefits programs, performance management initiatives, workforce planning and led the accreditation process for human resources teams.

In addition, Cheri has created and facilitated workshops and trainings for management teams, boards, and entire organizations in topics such as, Recruitment and Retention, Intrinsic Motivation, Mediation Conflict, Strategic Leadership, to name a few. Cheri’s vast recruitment experience include talent acquisition in Connecticut, New York, and Boston.


Cheri received her Bachelor’s Degree at Southern Connecticut State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. She then went on to get her Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development and Counseling at The University of Bridgeport. Ms. Golia is committed to literacy and adult education and has served on the Board of Directors of Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore, and has been a panel presenter for Shoreline Adult Education venues.


Cheri’s leadership, ethics, and industry experience make her a trusted strategic business partner. She takes a hands-on human resources leadership approach, while offering creative and innovative solutions that align with organizational mission, vison, and operational needs.
