Aliza Castro

Aliza Castro, LCSW, LADC, brings more than 30 years of experience in behavioral health and leadership to Root Center for Advanced Recovery. Throughout her career, she has led clinical and administrative operations, developed and expanded treatment programs, and brought teams together around a shared commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate patient care.

Prior to joining Root Center, Aliza served as an Addiction Services Division Director at the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), overseeing clinical and administrative programs for residential services in Middletown and Hartford. Her experience spans operations, program development, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and staff development, including leadership of large, multisite teams.

Aliza is deeply committed to advancing substance use and mental health treatment through research, data, and measurable outcomes. She uses evidence and results to identify opportunities for improvement and strengthen treatment approaches, helping to ensure patients receive effective, compassionate care with the goal of sustained recovery.



Aliza holds a Master of Social Work in Administration, Policy, and Planning from Rutgers University and is both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. At the heart of her work is a lifelong passion for helping people find hope and healing.
