Walking Our Talk: Preventing Burnout and Vicarious Trauma

August 27, 2019

The Root Center for Advanced Recovery would like to thank Mara Gottlieb, PhD, LMSW for her presentation and training, “Walking Our Talk: Preventing Burnout and Vicarious Trauma”. The term burnout and vicarious trauma is extremely common for therapists and other social service providers to experience throughout the course of their careers.

“Vicarious Trauma” is the natural consequent behaviors and emotions resulting from knowing about a traumatizing event experienced by another or the stress resulting from helping or wanting to help a traumatized or suffering person.” – C. Figley, 1995
