Root Center held our first-ever Legislative Breakfast!

April 30, 2021

Root Center hosted our first-ever Legislative Breakfast on April 27, 2021, with presentations from our CEO, Medical Director, and other key staff. Root Center leaders discussed the impact of COVID-19 on substance use in CT, telehealth as a tool for ongoing whole-client care, and community needs as we move past the pandemic and into the future. Legislators explored issues related to mental health and recovery in the aftermath of COVID-19 and discussed ways to manage obstacles in the field of behavioral healthcare. The event was a huge success! Thank you to Representative Geoff Luxenberg, Representative Tom Arnone, Representative Jill Barry, Representative Jason Rojas, and Representative William Petit for joining us! All in-person participants confirmed full vaccination prior to the event.

Our Community Forum was a success! Burnout: More than Just Stress, was a wonderful, insightful, and at times even funny conversation about occupational and personal burnout, shifting legislature, personal coping strategies, systemic changes, the effect of burnout in children, and so much more! The Root Center is proud to offer free events like this as part of our Advanced Recovery Institute (ARI). The ARI is committed to research and training to elevate clinical care. It is our hope that by organizing these forums that we will help expand our understanding and awareness of topics that impact our communities.
