Root Center Joins Wethersfield's Scarecrows Along Main

Each October, Old Wethersfield transforms into a celebration of community, creativity, and fall traditions as more than 100 handmade scarecrows line historic Main Street. Organized by the Old Wethersfield Shopkeepers Association, Scarecrows Along Main brings together local businesses, nonprofits, schools, families, and community organizations in a month-long display that draws visitors from across the region.

This year, Root Center for Advanced Recovery was proud to join the tradition with a custom scarecrow inspired by Frida Kahlo. Known for her vibrant artwork, resilience, and dedication to self-expression, Frida served as the perfect inspiration for a display celebrating creativity and individuality. Visitors can find Root Center's scarecrow on Main Street in Old Wethersfield, in front of The Burrow, directly across from Main Street Creamery and Griffith Academy.

Few figures embody creativity quite like Frida Kahlo. Her bold artistic style and enduring influence made her the perfect inspiration for a scarecrow celebrating imagination, self-expression, and community. While best known for her artwork, Frida also became a symbol of resilience, creating work that reflected her experiences, challenges, and unique perspective on the world. Her willingness to embrace what made her unique continues to resonate with people today. At Root Center, we see that same spirit reflected in the people we serve and the communities we are privileged to be part of. Every individual brings their own experiences, perspectives, and stories, and we believe there is value in celebrating what makes each person unique.

Events like Scarecrows Along Main are a reminder of the important role that creativity, local traditions, and community involvement play in bringing people together. Root Center is proud to be part of the Wethersfield community and grateful for opportunities to participate in events that celebrate connection, creativity, and local pride. If you're visiting Old Wethersfield this October, be sure to take a stroll down Main Street and enjoy all the unique displays that make this annual tradition so special.
